SWITCHBLADE - Stereo EQ/Comp
The Sebatron Switchblade is a high quality, highly versatile stereo broad band Equalizer coupled with a stereo Diode Compressor.
All audio circuitry is discrete Class A running off a high voltage supply rail to ensure lots of headroom and a wide frequency response.
The unit features a relay driven global bypass with each section being able to be bypassed independantly as well. When in full bypass the processing circuitry is completely switched out
of the audio path.
EQ bands :
-HIGH Shelf approx 8khz-16khz
-HIGH-MID Band approx 1khz-8khz
-LOW-MID Band approx 80hz-500hz
-LOW Shelf approx 40hz-120hz
The Equalizer section features four broad bands that interact with each other and allow you to shape and sculpt the incoming signal to your requirements.
Each band brings a distinct flavour to the signal. The High Band adds air and clarity and works in conjunction with the High Mid Band to provide sparkle and bite when pushed.
Similarly the Low Mid Band works in conjuntion with the Low Band and can add warmth, depth and roundness to an otherwise bland lower end.
Each band makes use of the natural colours provided by the solid state transistor gain stages and related components.
Each component carefully chosen and matched for accurate stereo imaging.
Preceding the four Equalizer bands is a variable High Pass Filter that is handy in chopping off the very low subs that can take up too much room in an
otherwise perfectly balanced mix.
The Diode Compressor section features a full set of compressor parameters to facilitate easy control of the signal dynamics.
These include fully variable ratio, attack and release controls with the latter spread over three separate but overlapping ranges - normal, tight and swim. Each setting has its own application depending on the program material and taste. Detection can take place either pre or post EQ by selecting the EQ>comp or comp>EQ switch.
The Switchblade Compressor also features a variable High Pass Filter for the side chain which cuts the lower frequencies controlling the Compressor's behaviour to ensure lower frequencies don't get over compressed when they don't need to be. The Compressor mix control allows the original dry pre-compressed signal to be mixed in with the wet compressed signal preserving some of the original dynamics and thereby creating a parallel compression signal path.
Lastly, the Switchblade indication (two columns of twenty blue leds) can be switched between four different modes to suit accurate monitoring of the signal and gain reduction.
These are :
1./ Internal
2./ Gain Reduction
3./ Output
4./ Left - Gain Reduction and Right - Output
Signals are displayed on two 20 segment Blue led bar graphs for easy visual monitoring and switched via a four position selector switch.
